This past week, the Valley Advocate has been featuring pre-release press on the RDX full-length. See it, read it, then come get it and hear it on Thursday, November 3rd, at 10pm, when the Red Door Exchange CD Release Show will commence, with the esteemed
Harper (featuring Jeff Benko with his crafty Magnatone, wielding a strong root from the tree of rock) and National Carpet (featuring the voice of J. Johnson, softly rugged, honest, worthy of the attention you will find yourself inclined to give) paving the way to RDX taking the stage. It promises to be a fulfilling night of spirited music. Tickets are $8 in advance and can be purchased from us directly, just email us and we'll arrange to get one into your hands. Otherwise, visit NBO Tickets to purchase tickets online, or go to the Northampton Box Office to buy them in person. Tickets are $10 at the door on the night of the show. Come All. [Jesse Lee]
A belated special thanks to all those in attendance and to all those who contributed to the Miguel Ayerve Scholarship Fund Benefit Show held a couple Sundays ago at The Apollo Grille. The response to this event was phenomenal, and we felt proud to be a part of something as unique and inspiring as the community of artists, musicians, and thoughtful people that congregated that evening. Not a night to be forgotten soon by anyone fortunate enough to have witnessed it. Not to be forgotten either by the future recipient(s) of the scholarship. Nice work. [Jesse Lee]
As you could see on the start page, there is a very special event taking place on Sunday, October 9th. It would be a shame to miss, visit Night Owl Records or Never Heard Of Them for more details. The way I see it: an absolutely stellar congregation of musicians, delectable food from the Apollo Grille, and a benefit worthy of your contribution. Props to Mark Schwaber for spearheading this idea, and special thanks to him for inviting us to play.
Elsewise...We are aiming for a November release of our album. There is absolutely no reason I can forsee that would prevent this from occurring. One had better not pop up, 'cuz I'll shoot it right down. By the way, we're not lazy. We're just busy, just like the whole lot of us bustling humans, and these things take time. No apologies. The timing is right. We'll see you soon. [jesse lee]
Kate and Jesse are touring Ireland at the moment, and here on the media page is "No Good Buddy", the first song off our debut album in .wma format, .mp3 format to come. Notice as well on the media page, "Predicate," our just-now titled second annual invocation of middle summer, the previous having been "telos." It's in bare bones format, uncut and unprocessed, but the basement ought to be captured once in a while. Thanks for listening and we'll be back. [jesse lee]
Apparently it takes a long time to put out an album, but it's getting done. Mastering in a month. Copies available for sale sometime thereafter, following pressing. Some people in the local area have had a taste with a 4-song promo we gave away at our recent shows at The Brass Cat and the Flywheel, thanks to those that were able to make it. For those who were not, one song is now posted on the media page. It's one of the more ethereal tracks on the record. You can take a nap to it. [jesse]
New photo gallery accessible from the "media" page, or by clicking here. More to come.
Hey - We're still kicking, moving right along with the album which is nearly almost entirely mixed. Then mastering, art, duplication, and it's all yours. Plans for a short tour down the east coast in July are taking shape, with some dates before then emerging as well. If anyone would like us to play anywhere, certainly let us know. This website will include some newness soon, pictures mostly, video eventually, fresh mp3's, perhaps even an entire overhaul down the line. Check back often. Take care for now. [jesse lee]
a quick soundbite from the trenches........... february is now gone and although
it was a blur im proud to say our fearless crew swiftly met all challenges, our
greatest perhaps avoiding the new england winter doldrums, and as a new month
arrives we carry new treasures........our first full length recording is complete
and awaits the skillful senses of our producer, known to us in human form simply as
Norm, and upon it's release we will celebrate dually the opening of his spanking
brand new studio, in whose future lies the most unknown sounds............. also we
completed a micro tour ending in some secret brooklyn chamber put on by the
wonderful folks of noranewdance co. we had a great time and all of the artists
involved were amazing, ( my personal highlight was
the sonic lashing of NYC's Wicked, although jesse lee's improvised dance
collaboration was stellar as well :)........ i think this band is falling in love
with brooklyn........ so our future costantly unfolding, our plates full, with
more work and more snow to come we press on, and we must thank everyone who has been
supportive of our band and what lies ahead, we love you all............ over
and out. [mike]
The album is now half-complete, that is, six songs have everything recorded on them. It is safe to say that we have entered the homestretch. Some beautiful things are happening on this record, producer Norm has complemented the RDX sound in a most tasteful and elegant manner. His contribution to this project, once complete, can never be understated--a successful marriage has been made, and we hope to celebrate it with people as soon as it is time. Thoughts on pre-releasing a single from this bunch have entered minds, will keep posted on that and any further developments. RDX will be performing at a fundraising-type party in Brooklyn for dancer/choreographer Nora Stephens, founder of noranewdanceco, on February 25th. Details will be posted on the shows page as soon as they are finalized.

More Pictures, Plus Live Video Footage and Interviews To Come...
Progress is being made on the RDX full-length currently in the works. By the middle of next week, 9 songs will have all the instruments recorded, sans vocals. In the end there'll be twelve, and a long list of people to thank. For now we press on.[jesse lee]
